It is an interspecific hybrid between D. caryophyllus and D. chinensis. This interspecific hybrid is related more towards D. chinensis with red coloured single whorled flowers. Flowers are small in size and are similar to pinks (D. chinensis). Flowers are borne in clusters. This has potential as potted ornamental plant.

It is an invitro mutation selection from IIHRS-1, standard type carnation with single flower on straight stalk and produces flowers of red colour with smooth petal edges. Elongated flower buds open slowly and have good keeping quality (10 days). It yields 300-360 flowers/m2/year with a thick straight flower stalk (length: 65 cm, flower bud length: 5 cm). It has tolerance to nematode and Fusarium wilt.
